Catheter Assistance Technology

Providing patients with peace of mind

About

CAT is an app that allows chemotherapy patients to keep tabs on their health and stay connected with their care team.
The app is designed to receive wireless information about the patient's blood from a microchip built into their catheter.

Design process

Research

I began my research by studying how patientes learn of their diagnosis, the types of treatments available, and how the oncology hospital systems work. After conducting my studies and speaking to various nurses in the field, I began to look for pain points that could be alleviated. I soon learned about chemo-brain and the anxiety people endure when they begin to lose their memory and thought process. I decided to design a product that would help to alleviate a patient's anxiety by keeping them informed of their health and connecting them to their care team.

Information in Real-Time

The dashboard provides patients with quick access to the most important health information in real-time.
It also provides patients with upcoming appointments and scheduled medication.

Health tracking

Each health metric privdes the patient with an understanding of their past and current state.
Common side effects and doctor recommendations are provided when a metric reaches an unhealthy state.

Medication management

The medication page allows patients to view their prescriptions, check when they should take them, and contact their pharmacy.

Always connected

The message section allows patients to stay in touch with their care team; alleviating anxiety and providing immediate help.
Appointment reminders alleviate patient's need to rely on their memory, which is especially heplful when suffering from chemo-brain.

Always up to date

Connected to the hospital's internal system, the scheduler keeps patients up to date with their appointments and medication.

Help is on the way

To ensure the feeling of safety and control, patients can call emergency services directly from the app.
